Biography Lawrence “Crazy Larry” William Bishop, 71, of Peoria, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Health Care in East Peoria. Larry was born on May 30, 1935 in Peoria, son of Joseph Everett and Mary Kathryn Murray Bishop. Two sisters, Patricia Roloff of Eureka and Phyllis Bell of South Africa, survive. Larry attended Woodruff High School and graduated from Peoria Central High School. Larry was involved in Student Council and was the top art student at Peoria Central High School. He attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, Larry was fortunate to befriend Frank Sinatra, Jr., Richard Pryor and Ward Kimball, the creator of Jiminy Cricket. Larry was formerly employed at Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. While enlisted in the Army, Larry created many cartoons for the Army newsletter. Larry loved art, playing the bongos and congas, rooting for the Chicago Bears, the Bradley Braves & Gene Melchiorre. He enjoyed listening to Rock and the Blues and The Moody Blues was one of his favorite musical groups. Larry enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially Linda & Royal Duncan, David Price, Dean Wright & family, Devon & Steve Deckert, Dale Wright, Bernie & Barb Hobin, Denise Jasinkski, Skip Ashcraft, Annette Ford, Walt Klausing, Val Duncan, John Bardo, John Garms and Steve Tarter, Kris Boldman & family. Larry enjoyed all of the fun times he had with his family and friends. He had a genuine heart and a fun loving nature. Larry loved life, loved to make people laugh and made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Larry’s friends, Royal and Linda Duncan, will host a Celebration of Larry’s life at their home at 428 W. Collingwood Circle in Peoria from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007. Anyone who knew Larry is invited to attended and share their memories of Larry. Cremation rights have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the Crittenton Center in Peoria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Consultants in Peoria. |
